So in a letter dated March 1, I got a $2500 scholarship. Did anyone else get this? Like, it doesn't seem it is one of the ones I applied for. And does anyone know when the rest of scholarships and really financial aid will come out?

Yep, I got a $2500 from UT for the presidential scholarship, and $2500 from the school of engineering. Both letters mentioned there will be more money coming in, and bealonghorn says to wait until early May for pretty much all financial information.

Do you both already go to UT? or are you transferring in next semester? Also, where did you apply?

Yeah I also got $2,500 from UT Austin!

I got that letter today too, but mine was from the Office of Student Financial Services and it wasn’t one that I specifically applied for. Still, woo hoo!

on what qualifications do you get this 2500 award? i havnt gotten one yet:/

It says “In recognition of your academic achievements and your potential for future success, I am pleased to award you a one-time $2,500 scholarship for study at The University of Texas at Austin during the 2010-2011 academic year.”

I got the same thing mentioned above.

Did you all fill out the FAFSA?

are these all in state scholarships

same but mine only says 1000 dollars

Is yours renewable? I got one that was $2000/year for four years, if I decide to go there. Is it still possible that more scholarships are coming? Does anyone know if they are going to offer everything in financial aid before May 1st? Also, there is an acceptance form. Do I only fill this out after I decide to go to UT?

the $2,500 one is not renewable. But I also got a $5,000 from McCombs that is renewable for four year.

If I’ve already accepted my admission, does that lower my chances for a scholarship?

I didn’t apply for scholarships this year. Would I still be able to get any after freshmen year?

@BevoUT - I was thinking about that, and my guess is that it does hurt your chances if you have already accepted. If I was the college, I would give most of the money to high achieving students that had not yet enrolled. I mean, what incentive do they have to give a student scholarships that is already enrolled? (besides stopping him/her from transferring)? That’s just a total guess on my part, but logically it makes sense.

Hopefully for you they do what is “fair” and don’t even look if people have accepted admission or not, which is a possibility, as I’m sure UT wants to get people to accept admission as soon as possible. If word got out that students who have not accepted have a much higher chance of getting scholarships, then UT would see 8000 people accept/deny in late March, which is highly undesirable.

nice, I got 4500 + OOS Tuition waiver from Austin Engineering, any1 else?

congratz on your scholarships

They would have 8000 people accept/deny late/early March like most of the other schools around the country and that’s a big problem?

azzajack: Congrats on your scholarship and double congratulations on the waiver! When and how did you hear about your scholarship/waiver? Waiting to hear from Liberal Arts…

@azzajack - I got the same thing! I’m pretty sure the OOS tuition waiver is valid for every year that we renew the $4,500 scholarship, right? I’m hearing contradicting explanations on this.
