Scholarships

you have to apply to honors programs. there is the davis honors challenge and the integrated studies honors program. one of the main differences is that you can find out if you get into dhc before the may 1 candidates’ reply date, whereas ishp you must be invited to apply and you will not find out until after you have already decided to attend uc davis.

congrats to all the new regents running around on these boards. :]

“whereas ishp you must be invited to apply and you will not find out until after you have already decided to attend uc davis.” actually, as regents, i was invited to join ISHP before i had decided between berkeley/davis.

ISHP is designed for regents, and as such, we get first dibs. ;] i distinctly remembering turning in my form for ISHP/mailing it the day i turned in my SIR.

y’all should do ISHP. it’s a great experience! <3 plus you get to live in the shiny new dorms at segundo north.

What is the number of Regents scholarships that are awarded for Davis?

And yes the honorarium amount does differ by UC. I believe Berkeley offers $1000, LA and SD $2,000, and SB $6,000. However, with financial aid, Davis Regents will offer as much as $9,000.

when i checked the FA site it said 14,000 $ scholorship. and with the grants it becomes like 20,000. did i really get this much of money??? i’m OOS

When I log onto awards mines just says to complete the fafsa first and all that. So once I submit it do you think I will find out whether I got any awards/scholarships or will I only be able to find out Aid that was given for FA. What I’m trying to say is, if your fafsa is incomplete, are you able to see whether you got awards or not?

No, unless you won a merit-based scholarship, any UC will need your FAFSA before they can determine your financial need through grants.

^Dangit, that means I likely won 0 merit scholarships. All I see though when I log into financial aid and rewards is a lot of text that says you need to fix the FAFSA and then we can determine eligibility and what not. I can’t seem to find out where I can check whether I received any merit scholarships, but if they should be displayed, I guess I didn’t get any. :(

I THINK the only merit-based scholarship that doesn’t require FAFSA is Regents (and the scholarships you win on your own). Even the Academic Competitiveness Grant and University Grant will need to come from your FAFSA information (hence being grants). Why don’t you get the FAFSA fixed? :)

Waiting for my parents to come back home tonight. :P

actually, even if you do have regents, still fill out your fafsa. regents will cover anything and everything beyond your EFC. that’s right… if you have an EFC of $400, davis will cover the rest for you if you’re regents. ;] the minimum, regardless of EFC, is 7.5k like everyone’s been saying. there is no “maximum” amount. it varies from regents scholar to regents scholar.

as for # of regents scholarships… no idea. haha.

Son received big white envelope with announcement of Regent’s Scholarship and access information to sign on and see amount, which is $7500/year. Looks like they notify both online and USMail.
