<p>Sorry, this might seem like a stupid question but what is RAL? I submitted mine to the address given for my region…</p>
<p>It’s Region-at-Large. Many areas do not have regional divisions for Scholastic, so students submit their entries to RAL.</p>
<p>:( I’m getting nervous. I haven’t talked to my sponsor teacher in a few days, but many of you have heard already? I’m hoping the mail reaches Nebraska later.</p>
<p>this is very strange,my son just got a EM from his high school art teacher telling him that he won a gold key in RAL painting. We submit the picture of the painting by ourself. And the teacher on the application is his art teacher in Chinese community center. I think he only put down the school name in the application. I am still confused what he really won.</p>
<p>^ Yeah, I think Scholastic usually goes through the school to notify award winners. They send a list of people to the school.</p>
<p>Does anybody know if receiving an e-mail about The American National Tree Award means you won a Gold Key?</p>
<p>Hmmm…if they send it to the teachers by snailmail, how do they know their addresses? or do they send it to the school, which gives it to the teachers? I don’t remember putting any info about my teacher except maybe his email address…</p>

<p>I got the email about the Tree Award too…hope this means I won! It says The American National Tree Award is an annual scholarship/publication opportunity for 11th grade Gold Key recipients in The Scholastic Writing Awards.</p>
<p>I know, I kind of got my hopes up, but I’m not sure if they sent it to everybody and just expects us all to read that line and know whether or not we qualify.</p>

<p>I got an email too! But I didn’t get any notification yet of Gold Key.

<p>I got one last year though (my sophomore Year), and I didn’t try. I actually tried really hard this year (I wanted to get a national prize), which probably means that I didn’t win. It’s weird - I tend to write better when I don’t care. Does that ever happen to you?</p>
