thanks quinone22!

has anyone ever been to NYC for the nat’l awards? if yes, what was it like? how many workshops were there etc? what was your favorite part? right now i’m still in shock, and i really don’t know what to expect!

national silver for my general writing portfolio! yessssss

Nothing for mee. Congrats to all national award winners! :)

I emailed Scholastic about the Novel contest a little while back. They sed May is when the winners will be announced.

Yes. My D got a national gold last year and we went. Lots of people. Pretty dull awards ceremony. Mostly speeches by various officials, past recipients and a few readings. She got two national golds this year, won’t be attending the awards ceremony.

Congratulations on your prize!

Edit: On second thoughts, it wasn’t such a boring ceremony first time around. Just not something you’d want to go two years in a row.

thank you!

so, would you recommend NOT going? i live in texas… although, it looks as if my school is willing to fund the trip for me (and my teacher)!

oh ok- just saw the edit. that makes me feel better because i’ve really looking forward to it!

Oh, definitely go if they’re paying you (and your teacher). Any excuse to go to NYC for free! Also, you may get more out of it if you attend all the non-Carnegie hall events too. Also, it is really a nice to get the validation of your talent- at the awards ceremony they are all going to tell you what an honor it is, how great you are, etc etc, which is all true.

Anyone heard anything about the novel award yet?

Yeah, I’d just like to echo what’s been said about the Carnegie Hall ceremony. Even if there are a gazillion kids getting awards, you still get to go backstage and then take a bow at CARNEGIE HALL in front of a full house of cheering people (albeit mostly parents :)).

Anyone hear about the Novel results yet? I’m not sure if they said the winners would be announced before May or during May. =

^ I have no idea. I emailed Scholastic a while ago, but they didn’t respond. >:[ It’s driving me crazy.

It doesn’t really matter now, but will the novel submissions be disqualified if they weren’t stapled? I realized I hadn’t after I mailed it in. How frustrating.

Oh god… I hope my teacher remembered to do that. She was the one who took it to the post office. D:

I really hope I don’t get disqualified for that. It would be nice to get recognized, too, since this is my last shot, and I worked for three years on the stupid thing.

I said on the prior page that Scholastic told me the novel submission winners will be announced in May.

Whoops…Was I suppose to send in a submission fee? I knew on the regular contest for art and other writing you did, but the rules of the novel didn’t specify?

According to last year’s winner’s blog, she found out the 30th of April…

The suspense has already killed me.

At this point, I’m like who gives a crap. :).

No. I don’t belive any fee was needed. It would have stated so on the submission forms.
