Rachael, I agree with you on the part about novelists being outcasts. I wish we would get as much representation in the awards. Most people don’t even seem to realize this category exists!

A novelist I got to meet told us a story about how novelists are similar to the fur traders. It’s a life only a select few can handle. The fur trader disappears into the woods for months, and comes back suddenly one day with loads of cash, spends one night partying and getting drunk, and then puts the rest of the money back into being able to go out and try again. It’s such a good analogy for novel writing. XD

Not sure how that was relevant, maybe I’m just trying to lighten the mood in anticipation.

Checking email now is so dreadful. There’s the exciment of the possiblity of winning, but then there’s that awful feeling that you’ll never get that wonderful email…

At least they have loads of ways to contact us if the email doesn’t go through… I’m so glad I haven’t deleted my account or something stupid since I gave them the address!

You know what? They spelled my name wrong last year cause I wrote it unclearly. It’s “Salzwedel” and they wrote “Salzweder”. I emailed them…And it’s still like that on the website! It even says that on my certificate :(

Seriously… I hate how anti-climatic it’s all going to be. I mean, we’ll check before going sleep Friday night, and if it’s not there, it’ll be like “Oh, well I guess it’s over. I guess?” Then have a tortured weekend and check again Monday just in case. It’s just stupid. I remember checking the site last year and seeing the list, seeing Anna’s name and going “NO!!” Then seeing my name. At least you know for sure at that point.

I’m hoping they will get a new system together next year. I don’t wish this on anyone!

Honestly, it just feels like they’re stringing us along. ): At this point, I don’t even care if I’ve won or not. I just want to know for sure. I mean… What’s taking this long?

Nothing for me…
I so wish that they would just hurry up! The mystery is driving me crazy. Everyday, every hour it seems I check my inbox…Scholastic really needs to get their stuff together.
