Scholastic Art and Writing Awards 2009

For submitting a novel, should I enter the total # of words it is, or the amount I’m submitting? Same for page count.

tiki -thanks for the info. anyone else submitting stuff?

Yes. Short and short short stories. I’m so relieved now that I finally have my entries sent off. Woohoo! I think they’re decent, but I just don’t know…

Haha, congrats, Wigwam! Best of luck to ya!

As for me, I finished two short, humor pieces. They were okay, I guess. I also attempted to write a sci-fi story, and it isn’t too hot. Lol. But right now I’m in the middle of another short story idea I had. I guess this is the last one, and I’mma send my stuff in tomorrow.

I sent my piece from here in LA today at around 11. I sent it First Class Mail. Think it’ll make it there in time?

I think you should be safe. I’m in LA, too, but I’m sending mine in tomorrow with express mail, which will get to NY overnight (unless something ■■■■■■■■ happens).

Omg. i jut realized i never chekd the date for illinois. does anyone happen to know off hand?

I’m pretty sure they want it in by January 9 for anyone who isn’t in New York. So you still have time. If you go by USPS Express mail and send it tomorrow, I think you will make it.

phew! thank you!

HOLY CRAP!!! I AM FINALLY DONE!!! Jesus Christ, it’s 2 AM and I have a DBQ that will make or break my grade in about 5 hours!!! It feels so good to be done and I really hope I do okay!! I’M HYPER!!!

btw, I have 5 stories I’m submitting. Do I put em all in the same envelope or make them separate? Can I just put each in separate envelopes and put those envelopes in a bigger envelope?

even though the guidelines state that submissions must be received jan 9, does anyone know if scholastic is actually that strict with entries arriving a little bit late?

Can I submit a humor piece by Friday and then the novel by March? Also, if I do multiple submissions is it $10 for each?

ehh. im just submitting one short story and hoping for the best. good luck to everyone!

Put them all in one 9x12 envelope (wait… how many pages total?). DO NOT FOLD! Why you would put them in smaller envelopes I cannot venture to guess. Thanks, BTW. Good luck to you, as well.

Of course! And it is $10 for each entry.

G’luck to everyone submitting! I’m getting a bit nervous… odds are slim for that elusive national award. Maybe we can post how we did in March?

Haha, good luck too you, too. I hope my stuff wasn’t too awful, considering I whipped it up in less than a week. In fact, a lot of it was finished at 2 AM >.<

Thanks Wigwam

I really want to win the National Gold Key for the novel category. But there’s only one award for that. >.<

sent my stuff today! Hope CC has a ton of winners! We da best!

same- just sent in my stuff. good luck everyone! : D
