What number did you call? I'm going to call today.

I live in Georgia and we did not have regionals where I live. I was e-mailed in March saying that I had won a gold award and to UPS my photo to NYC on the Scholastic account. They said I would receive more info in 3-4 weeks and have not received anything else. The art director of my county was notified by e-mail and a spread sheet of Georgia National Winners. This is all so very vague and confusing! Good luck to all!

Jenz- national silver award winners are still invited to come to carnegie hall. you just don't get to go up on stage. you also don't get $10,000. alas.

I just called and an operator told me they'd be notifying next week. Jenz, who did you talk to when you called?

another anomaly - last year i won a regional gold key award for a short short story and for poetry; the poetry went on to win a national silver award. this year, i entered 2 short stories, a short short story, and poetry into the RAL, but i haven't heard back yet. But, I'm not losing hope--as I said before, last year I wasn't even notified about my regional wins until the last week in april (my regional and national notification came on the same day).

GOOD LUCK ;-)

Vegangirl, Thanks, I found out!! Jegan3, I spoke to Ms. Lisa Feder-Feitel. We've seemed to have formed an alliance since January.

is there a way for anyone to find out who won gold nationally for photography?

Quick question-

Once we've submitted a story to Scholastic, are we allowed to use it in other contests? Because I was nominated for this writing award, and I need to submit a writing sample. Could I send my Scholastic submission?

Merrrrci!

I have two friends who won the $10,000 awards in their areas. General portfolio, and nonfiction. I go to a bomb azz public arts school in SC...It's pretty sweet. The Scholastics people called and told them personally they had won. Last year they did the same thing with another guy who won the nonfiction part.

SCGSAH=best school in the south

wow...called them personally...there goes my hopes...seeing as how my phone has been dead silent.

but I'll still keep my fingers crossed nevertheless...

what number did you call?

Probably they called the number listed on the art/writing award website, which is the main line for scholastic in new york. then you choose the option for speaking to an operator, and then ask that person to connect you to someone working on the art/writing awards. this is what i did, though the person i ended up talking to gave me incorrect info, so it's hit or miss.

Hmm...I just tried that and the woman I spoke to simply said that notifications were sent out at the end of last week.

But has anybody on here actually gotten anything in the mail yet?

Hey, classmate. lol.

to: SCGSAH! Whoo-hoo.

no. nothing hee - washington , dc. and i havent gotten anything but voice mail when ive called.

*nothing here

just got an actually person at scholastic. she told me all the people in the dept who had access to the info about winners were out of the office until next week. also said the letters for winners of RAL would be in the mail soon and people would have them by the end of next week. do they keep saying that? and the date keeps moving?

hmm...that might be accurate, though, because I received notification at just that time last year (I think the date was april 22)

Last year for gold and silver winners - were you asked to send in your work to NY? If so, when?

no...i think they forward it themselves
