anyway i did the emails and the phone calls...and it didn't work out! so i give up...i give i give

^hmm...well that's no fun...just more waiting...but that became standard fare quite awhile ago, didn't it?

please, if anyone hears anything -a happy letter of notification - let us know.

The two week and four week thing is ridiculous. Why make us wait so looong? This is possibly the most frustrating thing on the face of the Earth. We're just hanging in limbo. O, Scholastic Awards, you cruel mistress! hahahah.

ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!! im so excited! i received an email from one of the scholastics people and she told me that i won...a gold key for my nonfict writing port =D it might not be the gold award but this is still pretty sweet =D i had a dream last night about getting notified too... anyways... yay

on the website it says that gold keys qualify for the nationals... does this mean that i qualified but didn't win? either way... this is... good =D

oh yeah... someone asked about people being notified in florida... and i'm from florida... but i wasn't notified in the mail or anything... i just emailed random people and someone was kind enough to notify me a week later

Congrats on the win!

You won National, I think, unless you are convicted of a crime before they inners are announced. Congrats!

The winners - that is - bad "W".

do most people who reach nationals win some sort of national award?

How are we going to find out if we won anything for Novel Submissions?? I am waiting and DYING to know! It said that we would be notified in May....but it sounds like everyone is being notified at different times.

Did anyone else send out a Novel?

OOh i'm nervous!!!

***!

i just recieved this email...did anyone else?

"Congratulations to the Recipients of
The Scholastic Art & Writing Awards 2007

The board of directors of the Alliance for Young Artists & Writers joins the national juror panelists, the regional affiliates and our staff in congratulating this year’s national Award recipients.

The Alliance has announced the talented youth (grades 7-12) who were chosen to receive national awards and scholarship opportunities. 788 artists and 373 writers have achieved national level recognition this year. These 1,161 talented, young artists and writers include twelve high school seniors honored with the highest level of achievement, the Portfolio Gold Award. The twelve recipients (listed below) represent the most talented young artists and writers that received top recognition in The Awards, and will each receive a $10,000 cash award. Congratulations to The Scholastic Art & Writing Awards of 2007 national award recipients and their teachers for their outstanding achievements.

Portfolio Gold Awards—Pinnacle of Success
While success in the individual medium and genre categories indicate a high level of achievement, the Portfolio categories require graduating high school seniors to submit a body of work that consistently demonstrates mastery of technique, originality and the emergence of a personal voice or vision. Developing a portfolio requires dedication, commitment and passion. The highest honors awarded through The Scholastic Art & Writing Awards are reserved for the very best portfolios submitted. 1024 portfolios (art, photography and writing) were adjudicated on the national level this year.

Twelve Portfolio Gold Award recipients—5 in art, 2 in photography and 5 in writing—were bestowed this year and include a $10,000 scholarship for each student. In addition, 203 art, photography and writing portfolios received Portfolio Silver Awards, and these students, along with the Portfolio Gold Award recipients in art and photography, become eligible for an additional $1.5 million in tuition scholarships through a network of partner organizations.

Congratulations!"

what is going on...?

WHAT....???? WHAT ABOUT NOVELS....?

Oh am so confused. I am going to email them NOW.

So is that it, then? Because I still haven't heard a word...

thats basically it for gold.
Silver is like a slap in the face.

But nothing for Novel Submissions, of course. Because that would be giving us false hopes.

Oh Lordy.

Has anyone in California been notified about any writing award(regional or national) at all? I haven't received any information, and someone at the national office said that notifications would been mailed in the coming week...

I am in California and I know NOTHING. I feel very....distant.
