Scholastic Art and Writing Awards

I'm in California also and all has been silent.

I'm keeping my fingers crossed until the very end, though.

Well, if anybody hears anything about the Novel submissions, please throw me a bone and post.

This is my first year entering anything -- stupid Novel is a HUGE first to enter, I bet (yes I know I'm dumb) -- and I have worked myself into a fit.

well, at least now i know what i DIDN'T win.

was that letter just for portfolio winners? or is that it for national winners in individual categories too?

I've submitted to the Novel category this year, and wrote to Scholastic yesterday asking if the novel winners have been selected yet. I'll post their reply when I get it, which I hope will be soon!

Did anyone get anything in the mail from the ARAL?

I won a national gold award and received the e-mail. Hope that helps.

I didn't hear anything from region at large or nationals--didn't do a portfolio though.

hello all - i spoke to lisa feitel today at scholastic, a helpful and thoughtful woman. scholastic dealt with an overlaod of submissions this year. letters were sent - i think she said last week - to a central mailing facility - a buisness that does ths sort of thing - to handle the huge load of replies that they had to send out. she is very surprised and unhappy that people are still waiting. bottom line, the letters are in the mail.

My county in Florida e-mailed results. Nothing here. :(

Le_Moz: in which category and which region?

in case anyone wanted ms. feder-feitel's phone #, you can pm me. i havent called b/c, judging from the answers others got, i wont find out if i won or not. ill just have to wait. grr.

The novel submissions are different aren't they. Humph. Guess I'll just have to wait....perhaps they have been sent out. But did Feder-Feitel said that the awards were sent snail-mail?

Photography and Metro Atlanta area. As far as I know there was no regionals for my area.

well, on my regional website i found the list of national winners from my region. im not one of them. oh well. im still very happy with the gold key i got in regionals.

wheres there a regional website for national winners?

For regional websites, try searching for your region's name and "Scholastic Art and Writing." Not all regions have a website, though, and the "Region at Large" definitely doesn't.

Georgia has a region for art according to to the Scholastic list of states and their regional affiliates. Georgia appears to be regional for art and region-at-large for writing.

The Atlanta College of Art closed and we did not have a regional (as per my teacher). They used to be in charge of the regionals. Anyone else from the Atlanta area? How do you find a listing of regionals from your state?

For those who entered in novel writing:
I was the novel writing gold award winner last year, and I received word about two weeks after everyone else heard. The novels are judged by an entirely different group of people, from a small publisher within scholastic called PUSH. Last year they conference-called me on May 1st to tell me I'd won and I got the mailing about two weeks later.
Hope this helps. good luck.
