Scholastic Art and Writing Awards

every time I check this thread and there's a new post I think it's going to be someone saying, "I just found out I won!"
but it never is.
this is getting a little unhealthy :)

Same here, Vegangirl! I'm always half-hoping that someone won, so that I can finally move on... but I'm also dreading that day.

Of course, I just contributed to the whole "New-Post-But-No-Results" problem that stresses me out so much... oh well =)

Well then, I'll just jump on the bandwagon and contribute as well.

A whole lotta nothing.

Somebody just win already!

ryan! this is reminiscent of the TASP thread right before interview notifications.
btw, my interviewer is the factotum of UT Austin this year. ahhhhhhh........

I'm so entirely confused!!!!!

So, I won 2 gold keys at the regional level for NYC, and just today got an e-mail asking me to fill out that annoying survey for regional winners. Did anyone else get this e-mail? Does this mean I didn't win at the national level? Has ANYONE heard ANYTHING??

Heh. Hmm...I'm only a little neurotic about this.... :)

Oh no this IS like waiting for TASP things to come! Except...I didn't find CC until after I got my "yes" letter/email. -_-"

Here we go: (last sentence)

On the regional level, award recipients are recognized with lapel pins and certificates. In areas where there is an affiliate program, award recipients are celebrated through local award ceremonies, exhibitions and readings. Regional recognition includes Gold and Silver Key Awards, and in some regions, Honorable Mention Awards. Affiliates also select American Visions & Voices Award Nominees as ?Best of Show? for their region. Some affiliates award local scholarships and cash awards. Gold Key Awards become national qualifiers.

Now, I assume this is the same for RAL. Except, I hope they will select more people out of the RAL pool simply because there are more people entering... Well, I guess I have to wait and see.

Apologies upfront, I don't have any results :/

Argh...I haven't been on this thread for awhile because it made me too nervous...I figured that at least one of us would win. But someone earlier asked if art RAL had already been notified, and they have. That's art, not writing. Some people from a school near me won. They're getting their tickets to Carnegie Hall for the awards ceremony.

This is incredibly saddening. Sometime this week--good luck to everyone!

again, apologies...no results here :(

emyla: so....people at a school near you won for art, right? not writing?

i won for writing at the regional level, so that's what i'm wondering about. has anyone heard anything about that?

i'm just commenting so i can subscribe to this thread. i submitted a ton of stuff in diff categories from a region at large and have not heard anything yet. Have we confirmed that all notifications have been sent or are in the process of being sent?

If we assume that all of these posts were correct (we'll be notified by April 3 or 4, we'll know by the end of this week, etc.), none of us won anything =(

I know someone who won (in writing) who's been told this verbally, but hasn't yet received anything in the mail. So all hope's not yet lost...

No! no! LesOs!!! We can't give up hope yet!!!

(geez...I sound like Palpatine in Revenge of the Sith..."NO NO NO YOU HAVE LOST!!!"...any other Star Wars fans out there?)

You guys are crazy lol. Just found out by phone yesterday that I won a regional gold key award. I still have yet to find out how I fared with the nationals...

where do you live jenz?

if anyone is confused by scholastic's system here, let me quickly explain it to you:
scholastic doesn't have a system.

I hope this helps. :)

bloody hell I'm just going to submit my play to another contest.

So disorganized.

Okay, I give up. No I don't. Yes I do. NO. YES.

I need to get in touch with someone who entered RAL, Writing. NOW. /endrant

wuwei, St. Thomas, Virgin Islands.

Jenz - Are you from Region-at-large? Who called you? Scholastic?

Honora, I have no idea if I'm Region-at-large. I actually called Ms. Feder-Feitel the other day just to ask her if she'd ever received my portfolio, and when she went to check (on her files I guess), she saw that I'd won a regional gold key award. So I don't know how I've fared with nationals--she was supposed to contact me back, so I'm still sitting, waiting, hoping for a Carnegie miracle.
