@AlmightySadist When I log on, I am directed to my dashboard which has a photography gold winning piece of Coney coaster from a student in new York and a message about national awards. it seems like my login page has changed since February 3, before the notification date, I recall that the my uploads tab was available but I can no longer find it.
@AlmightySadist And I am in northern new jersey region http://www.artandwriting.org/affiliate/NJ001A/
If anyone is in that region, please say something because all I need is closure XD
@LizzieSamuels That’s weird. Does it say anything like, “Congratulations! This year we received more than 330,000 works. As a Gold or Silver Key recipient in 7-11 grade, you may qualify for a Scholastic Awards Summer Scholarship (SAS Scholarship) to attend a summer art or writing program.”
@AlmightySadist You mean when I log on to my account? Nah. And no one in my class submitted anything or I could have asked them. I am guessing you don’t have a roller coaster picture pop up when you log on?
@LizzieSamuels I do actually. That’s what’s funny. And don’t worry. I’m the only person in my high school who applies at all. Lol. My English teacher actually said she wasn’t going to be the educator for me because she thought it needed a written recommendation. Can you believe that?
Anyways, I’m trying to find any award lists for your region. Are you sure it isn’t the Northern New Jersey Art region? That’s all I’m finding.
*who applied at all
@AlmightySadist It is the northern new jersey art region. the website for my affiliate is the link I posted above. I guess the reason why im so desperate is because I devoted my entire winter break working on one of my submissions when I could have spent the time on a big school project But anyways, you’ve been a great help! congrats on your award, and I guess all I could do is wait for an email reply.
Hi everyone! For submitting the app to SAS, it says that you can upload up to 5 works for the “One Recent Work” thing, so is it one work or five??
@LizzieSamuels The whole winter break? Lucky. My deadline was before winter break. I uploaded my submission literally deadline day and post-marked my mail too on the last day. XD Call me a procrastinator. Anywho, affliates normally dedicate like a whole web-page or have their own pdf for winners on their sites. Maybe since you had a later deadline, they’re taking longer?
@HopeTsai
That’s a super good question. I would send an email. Maybe the 5 files are like different sections of the work? Like segments or chapters?
@LizzieSamuels Hey, I checked out the Montclair Museum site that is the New Jersey affiliate, and there’s no mention of 2017 winners but have 2016, 2015, etc. on it. Maybe they really haven’t released any awards yet…
Ahhh, thanks so much AlmightySadist! (Cool name. Very nice. xD) I will most certainly do that, and will let you guys know of the reply!
@AlmightySadist , I know someone who heard about an art award earlier this week. But I don’t see anything on the site.
@gardenstategal
Then I really don’t know what to say… I guess you gotta call or email. I would call if number is available.
@HopeTsai
Thank you!
And welcome! Please reply if you hear or find out something!
Hey y’all… So how do the other scholarships work? Like the American Vision and Voices? I read that nominees are selected but when? At the regional level? National? And how does one know?
Yes! I didn’t see my name on the Regional list still, but I received a letter saying one of my works won a Gold key!
@AlmightySadist American Vision and Voices nominees are selected through regional judging, and from those nominees, at national judging, one nominee from each region wins the actual award. If you’re from region-at-large, however, there is no chance of winning an American Visions/Voices award (region at large doesn’t do the award). You find out if you’re nominated for one with the regular notification for gold key, silver key, honorable mention, etc. depending on your region’s notification method.
@hannahvyvy Wow that is amazing! Congratulations on the award
@gardenstategal That doesn’t sound too good for me…
