Congratulations, brianm02! I really like your pieces - they seem very detailed and versatile. These awards should help you in the application process, so again - congrats!

Congrats on getting paintings in!
Our local one seems stingy on paintings. Over the last few years, the amount of paintings in the shows has decreased. I think there were only four at the most this year.

Nice work!
Did you sumbit Glass Bottle And It's Shadow and Ceiling of My Art Class? I really like those two of yours.
Are you applying to any art schools?

thanks, you're 3 gold keys are very impressive. the head of a lion is brilliant.

the only other work i submitted was ceiling of my art class, which didn't get in. im just about to apply for parsons right now, and so far i've applied to pratt and FIT. going to apply to CCAD as well. how about you?

I'd like to kill myself for not starting my application process sooner.
I was set on doing architecture at Pratt, and one day it just fell off me and I now plan on art education. I wish I applied to Pratt before the deadline, but it fell off my radar with architecture. I know there's still rolling apps. but I don't like the sound of that.
I've applied to two in-states. Souther Illinois University and University of Illinois. Both aren't known for art programs, but hey, they're schools.
I plan on applying to RISD, MICA, and maybe SIAC and University of the Arts.

same with me. i basically started my portfolio in october.. it was hell.
well i hear pratt is a very good school for architecture, but now that you're planning on art education.. anyways the neighborhood around pratt is not that great.
all those 3 schools are very good too i hear.

im going to the scholastic ceremony tomorrow. anyone else already gone?

Our ceremony isnt until Feburary 14. They're announcing the American Vision Awards then.
It's weird because in the past years, the Visions winners were shown opening day, like instead of a gold key, it's have a Visions sticker.
I've been told my shoe is a nominee to win our regional Visions Award, so I'm excited to see if it does.

I've read that RISD gives out $10,000 to a couple of participates in Scholastics who apply there. However, I emailed them questioning about it and I got one response saying there was no scholarship. I ended up emailing another staff member and they assured me that there is such a scholarship. I believe they said they recieve a list of students who participate and then they make their decision by that.
I'm not sure if getting a regional Gold gets you on the list, or if it's national. The whole thing confuses me.
