Scholorship help please

I am going into my senior year of high school and am looking at some pretty pricey colleges. My family is upper middle class and I don't qualify for any need based aid... however, my father has been paying for private school and college for my sister and me for the past several years, just got married (that costs a lot) and just bought a new condo.
Now I am not trying to make my father out to be an irresponsible guy (the condo was actually a good long term investment) and if need be he and my mom can front the full money for college, but it would really help him out (and me because then he won't make me pay for a lot of simesters) if I could get some merit based money for school.

I have no idea how this process works so if somebody could help me out and give me the basics on how to apply for money, where to get info, my chances of getting some money, etc that would be great.

Also feel free to link me to some threads because I am sure this has come up before.

Thanks,
Mike

Oh and the schools I am looking at a lot are UVA, Georgetown, Brown, Villanova, Amherst, BC, Bucknell, Duke, Columbia, and UNC... Do any of these have merit based aid?

Here is some outside ones i know...regardless of major, race, etc...

Let me know if this is helpful.

thanks so much, anybody else?

You can do a lot of this research yourself - go to each colleges' website and look up scholarship information.

If you're involved in any clubs or organizations, see if those will get you anywhere with scholarships. Also if you know what you plan on majoring in, there might be scholarships out there just for those planning on going into that major-- check around your community for those too(I plan on an education major & just in my community there's several for ed. majors.) Check around to see if any places in the community sponsor some, that info. might be in your guidance office (ours does a master list of all scholarships available in our area plus all the websites which I think mb123 covered quite nice) Good luck.
