I am going into my senior year of high school and am looking at some pretty pricey colleges. My family is upper middle class and I don't qualify for any need based aid... however, my father has been paying for private school and college for my sister and me for the past several years, just got married (that costs a lot) and just bought a new condo.
Now I am not trying to make my father out to be an irresponsible guy (the condo was actually a good long term investment) and if need be he and my mom can front the full money for college, but it would really help him out (and me because then he won't make me pay for a lot of simesters) if I could get some merit based money for school.

I have no idea how this process works so if somebody could help me out and give me the basics on how to apply for money, where to get info, my chances of getting some money, etc that would be great.

Also feel free to link me to some threads because I am sure this has come up before.

Thanks,
Mike

Oh and the schools I am looking at a lot are UVA, Georgetown, Brown, Villanova, Amherst, BC, Bucknell, Duke, Columbia, and UNC... Do any of these have merit based aid?
