So here's the thing. One college I applied to sent me an email today, asking for supplemental financial documents. Not because I forgot to submit them or something, but just because of some differences between US forms and forms in my country. Moreover, I've already submitted similar documents several months ago, and now they asked for, basically, the same documents, but just more detailed.
This college's notification date is March 20, so there's just about a week left. I'm just wondering... Is it a good sign? I mean they ask for additional materials so late... I just thought that the majority of decisions are actually made in early March, so schools can prepare everything, decide on some controversial applicants, etc, while financial aid offices don't just waste their time on those who're gonna be rejected. Am I wrong?
Ugh... Sorry to bother you with this. I's just I'm getting really nervous as April gets closer.
Good luck to all who's waiting for their decisions!

It either means nothing or it means you’re in the running; there’s no way to know without being there in the office. But those possibilities still average out to good news. Send in the updated forms as quickly as you can and let the rest happen.

Sounds like a good sign to me. Hope so, best wishes!

Catisforfite, researchperson, thank you for your responses!

@KatherynP From my experience, it doesn’t mean a thing. If anything, they’ll find out that you are in need of need based financial aid, and from what I’ve read on CC, some schools will pick a student with lower stats who can pay in full, then a student with excellent stats, who relies on financial assistance.
I could be wrong but that’s what I’ve been getting from reading various threads on CC.

It is just a coincident of timing. This is the time the FA office need to finish collecting all required information as they would not have much time to prepare the FA package if wait until the admission decision is out. Don’t get too excited and over-interpret the proximity of their request and admission notification. Some schools actually have the IDOC deadline set a few weeks before the admission notice for all candidates.
