Hmm we were verified and D got an email today from the financial aid office saying they had made corrections to her FAFSA. Can't imagine what they would be as the verification documents we sent agreed with what was in FAFSA - so I am sitting here fretting about it. I have checked on FAFSA and whatever these corrections are have not been processed yet. Wonder how long it will take.

I am self-employed and have had schools add back in some business deducations- like depreciation and home office deductions. I called in and asked the finaid officer when I was notified, just because I did not want to wait and wanted to understand it all

Ours is so simple I can't imagine what they would have corrected. If the SAR is not changed soon I will call and ask the financial aid office.

Let us know what they did when you find out- it's always good to know how these things work

Well the correction finally processed so an update. My daughter was getting SS payments till she turned 18 (because Dad is retired and getting SS pension). We had put that on worksheet A under parents untaxed income along with her Dads SS pension because that is what i understood we should do from FAFSA instructions. (payments for student if student was under 18) The school changed it and put it on the student worksheet A.

Difference to the EFC 0.

However that is because we qualify for automatic zero EFC. If we did not it would have made a big difference but as the benefits ceased when she turned 18 we would have had to go in and ask for a special circumstances adjustment so the saga would have gone on for another few weeks.

I am still not sure if we were wrong the way we entered it originally or if the correction is wrong. As it has no net affect (other than my frazzled nerves) I am not going to worry about it. The benefits have stopped so will not be something I have to worry about on next years FAFSA.

Now I am curious to see how long it is till the school site updates to say everything received. I think schools must just access FAFSA once every now and then as the date I submitted the original FAFSA and the date they say they received it are different by a couple of weeks. Anyway I know from last year that they show the date they have the final corrected FAFSA as the date FAFSA is received so it will show us submitting FAFSA in March though we actually submitted it in January.

I agree with your original treatment, swimcatmom. I also agree with your decision not to worry about it, given your situation!
