i am student from europe and my teachers have absolutely never heared of common app. i would need some information on what my school counselor will have to fill out in case of an international application. i tried to look for the pdf version but they are none for this year and it was announced that there will be no international supplement just some questions. as i really want to get into the college of my choice it would be important to prepare my counselor for what information he will need to provide. it would be horrible to not get accepted because he missunderstood something.

some of my main concerns:
will he need to convert my grades to gpa or A-F?
in my home country only the last two years of high school count towards your qualification. will he still need to provide school reports from 9th grade onwards?

This year, the Common Application changed how they will accept documents from school staff. In past years, your guidance counselor and teachers could fill out the forms and mail them in. They can no longer do that. In fact, the Common Application no longer provides forms as pdf links. All forms must be electronically sent in through the Common App. You invite your GC and teachers by sending them “an invite” through their email address. The forms have not changed from last year, so you (and your GC and teachers) can see what they look like – but the forms must all be completed on-line.

Actually, it is still possible this year to mail or email these forms, but that is no longer the preferred method of submission. Most recommenders are submitting electronically through common app, but if your recommenders prefer not to do that, you can get customized printable pdf forms to provide to them. You still have to invite them electronically through your common app account, but if they opt out of online submission through the common app recommender website, your account will update with printable pdf versions of the forms.
