Hi there!
In this year my Son applied BS as an international student and got accepted letter from 6 schools and rejected from 2 schools finally wait list on 2 schools.
We are living abroad so, it is very hard to participate in ‘Revisit Day’.
My Son cannot choose one berween NMH and The Governor’s Academy. Many people say all two schools are great but they have many different characters so we are troulbe in choice.
My son’s accepted schools - NMH, The Governor’s, Canterbury, Porthmouth Abbey and Pomfret.
Could you give me any advice for those schools or share the expierence in them?
I don’t have a detailed information those BS - we are living out of US- just I 'm very worried about my Son’s choice.
And more one thing, he is on the wait list Exeter. Is it possible to get in Exeter from the wait list?
@Sharrie: What criteria did you use for selecting the schools your child applied to? What is important to your son? You will get better responses here if we know what you/your child is looking for in his BS education and living experience. There are many posters here who have experience with the schools you list, but they need to know what your specific questions are. All of those schools are good and one is not better than the other, but your child may be happier at one over the other based on what he is looking for.
It is possible to get off a wait list, but it is not very likely. You might want to read The Wait List thread pinned to the top of the Prep School Admissions forum for more detail.
My choice would be Portsmouth Abbey out of this grouping. My daughter got into St. George’s but chose another, but having grown up in RI during my summers, you can’t find a more beautiful campus, esp if he is into water sports. The octagonal chapel is also really beautiful. My niece and nephew both matriculated from the Abbey. At least one is at BC. He should go where his heart is and where he feels most comfortable and able to do his best work.
I agree with @ChoatieMom some more info re your son’s interests would be helpful. Does he play a sport? Arts? What is his favorite subject? Congrats to your son!
Since it is a decision that will affect 4 of the most formative years of your son’s life, it would be wise to do whatever you can to do a revisit week.
