Our school does not give any weight to honors classes and only 0.02 for AP. So basically you can take all easy classes and have an A and your rank is as good as or even better than if you take all honors and have one B. Are we at disadvantage when it comes to the college admission?

No. Your GC will weight the rigor of your schedule on the Secondary School Report. All Honors/AP classes should be marked “most rigorous,” while easy classes will ot be. Also, the school profile should indicate the weighting system and the most advanced classes by department.

It will not. Every HS prepares a school profile which gets sent with the transcript. The profile shows the different level of classes offered, the weighting system the school uses etc. so the college can review your transcript in the proper context. And many if not most colleges recalculate GPA using their own parameters and typically only including academic courses. My kids HS does not weight at all and it did not hurt them in the least in terms of college admissions.

Thank you everyone.
