School doesn't offer any AP's

My school doesn't offer a single ap class and the only honors class is english. Am I completely screwed? I really want to go to an awesome college, so what can I do to make up for this?

No you aren’t screwed at all. Colleges view your course load in the context of the school you are at. They’ll recognize that since there aren’t any APs at your school, you shouldn’t be penalized for not taking any. They want to see that you made full usage of the opportunities you had available at your school.

But bearing that in mind, I think a really GREAT way to stand out, is to try and find some easy AP classes - such as Enviromental Science - and do a self study for them - just study for the exam without taking the course. It’ll show colleges that you have great initiative. For more information on self studying there’s a CC thread here:

Good Luck!

Find some AP exams that are related to classes you are taking them, and study what additional material you need to in order to take the exam, and take a couple.

Another excellent way to boost your resume is to take a community college course, if available, or at least an enrichment course at a local college/ed center if you can.

You are evaluated within the context of your environment. If you can avail yourself of resources outside of that limited environment, however–CC classes, self-studying–you demonstrate enormous initiative, as well as competency at handling college-level material.

An admissions officer told me if there aren’t any AP’s provided at your school, you should look for some. Go join the summer programs in Universities.

Take initiative. Go above and beyond what is provided at your school.
