School doesn't offer AP's

My school only offers AP classes in math and science as a grade 10 and english for all four years.
It's really frustrating because my only choice for classes like bio physics and chem is academic, that's the highest offered (Canadian system). I feel like I am not being challenged in this level and that a lot of people don't even try in my class (just fool around any not care about their marks).

The main thing I am concerned about is that universities will look down on my because I did not take AP classes, but whatever course I took, I took the highest offered at my school. Will universities look at it this way?

Thanks!

Universities Judge you relative to your high school.

If your high school offers 0 AP classes/Tests, and you took 0 AP classes/Tests then you will not be penalized (as long as you still took a rigorous schedule, like Honors Courses and stuff)…

It’s totally not your fault your school didn’t offer AP’s. The important thing is you did the best you could with the limited resources you had–in other words, you went for the highest possible offering at your school for courses. It’s not like you can create AP out of thin air. You should explain this in your essay or describe it to the college, and they will understand.

But there is something you can do. You can always take AP classes online through virtual school. Not only will it boost your GPA and academic excellence, but it will show your dedication to studies and how you went for AP and a higher advanced class in any way you could. That is totally a suggestion and it’s completely up to you. It just what I would do in that sort of situation!

Colleges just want you to take the most challenging courses available at your school. At some schools that means taking AP classes, but obviously in your case it doesn’t. There’s no reason to take AP classes online or self-study exams unless you want college credit.
