School Dosen't Rank

I know Texas puts lots of emphasis on class rank, if my school dosen't rank should I treat it like I'm not in the top 10% and do the optional essay and provide recs?

No, they are going to create a rank for you. My school didn’t rank either, so UT created one for me. I am not exactly sure how they come up with the ranks though. So if you have a really good GPA, I think you should be good, imo.

Hope that helps!

Are you in state or OOS> Rank is of utmost importance with instate. OOS admissions takes a more well rounded approach. MY D got in OOS and her high school did not rank. I know she would not have been top 10%. Texas law mandates the class rank thing for instate. OOS is not legislated by rank. Hope that helps.

Son will apply to UT, our school is int’l and does not rank. He may be top 10% in one class and top 50% in another. So how do they figure this one out? :)

Top ten only matters for in-state students for automatic admissions. That is what they are talking about above.
