School for mathematics and science?

I live in MS and probably going to go to mississippi school for mathematics and science next year, i will be applying in february. Do you guys think its worth going to one of those schools. Do colleges rater perfer u go to one of those schools and get straight C's or going to a ordinary public school and getting straight A's.

I think MIT and Caltech is aware of the math and science schools around the US since they are constantly churning out great mathmetician and scientisits (obviously)

I don't know much about MS's math and science.
Is it better than Jackson Prep (which someone in my school proclaims is amazing)?

no jackson prep i believe is the top highschool in Ms, then comes MSMS

OK...if MSMS (pretty easy to say) is better than your own high school and you are more math and science oriented, then by all means go there.

well the only reason i would go to MSMS is because of the rep. i mean college's never heard of my high school because it has no status whats so ever, but MSMS they probably heard of it since theres only like 3 of these schools in the country. If i stay at my high school ill have more fun socially and stuff and if i go to MSMS ill probably dedicate lots and lots and time to studying and not really being real social and having fun and stuff..But i think i'd rather go to MSMS since it'll get me into a better college and improve my knowledge alot more..

i know of:

NCSSM
TJHSST
MSMS

WOOT I went to TJHSST! but I had to move this summer so I didn't get my 27 credit diploma :'( I can suggest going to that school, then working extremely hard and getting straight A's. Definitely go. Definitely. The people at magnet schools are amazing and bright and have the same goals as you do. And it won't hurt your chances for college, in fact, the smaller science and tech schools will LOVE you. Good luck.

Colleges also like rural valedictorians from poor communities of trying backgrounds (it creates diversity) so if you are either poor/ an URM, and the valedictorian of your hs with pretty high SAT scores and push yourself to the max at your current high school then maybe you should stay if all you want to do is go to a good college rather than learn stuff with a few B's and C's at a great high school

"but MSMS they probably heard of it since theres only like 3 of these schools in the country. "

Are you sure? There are like a bunch of math and science schools:

the most notable are TJ, IMSA, and NCSSM (well to my knowledge, anyway)

<a href="http://www.ncsssmst.org/membership/institutions.htm%5B/url%5D">http://www.ncsssmst.org/membership/institutions.htm</a></p>

I think it's definitely worth a shot, I plan on gonig to IMSA next year. Though I guess you have to know your limits(bad grades=not working out). And when you ask, Do colleges prefer straight Cs over As at an ordinary high school, it all depends on curriculum and whether the student at the math and science school is active in other activites to make up for a gpa shortage or if the regular student is doing anything as well because colleges don't like those inactive in ecs. Thinking about getting straight C's already puts you on the wrong initiative and might make you question whether you actually belong there or not.

Two of those were on Sagar's list, sr6622...TJ and TJHSST are the same thing :)
