Currently the status of my School Forms is "Not Started", but I have already requested the counselor/teacher recommendations and they will be mailed as a hard copy. Will the status always remain "Not Started"? There's nothing on this page where I can indicate that they have been requested, or already submitted.

Make sure you assign each recommender to the school you’re applying to.

If you assign a teacher to a school and that teacher does not end up sending a rec but another teacher does. Does it matter?

Will the school be looking for the teacher rec by name or just that a teacher rec is sent to meet their requirement?

I am asking because my son asked a teacher who has 80 recs to do and I think he might not get to it for a while. My son asked another teacher as well who should be able to but he may need to find someone else for the busy teacher. If he sends in the common ap to those schools that require 2 recs, then one of them may be from a new teacher he asks.

Lakemom: I would decide which teacher you definitely want your son to get a recommendation from and then politely withdraw your request from the other teacher to write a recommendation. Then just delete and replace the teachers sending recommendations on the App. That way if both write a recommendation but only one is needed, the teacher who spent time and effort on writing it won’t be annoyed that they’ve wasted their time should it not be needed.

That is a good suggestion bythefuries. I think we have a little more time to decide about pulling out from the busy teacher and send off the apps that only require one rec with the non busy teacher’s included. Then I will suggest my son touch bases with the busy teacher to see how he is doing before switching.

Unfortunately, our schools sends the teacher recs along with their packet with transcript, GC rec etc. The teachers don’t send them themselves so it can hold up the process. I don’t know if our school is willing to send packets with just one teacher rec and send the second one separately later.
