I want to study History/International Politics, and although I go to high school in the States, I'm an Ontario citizen. I want to go to school in Ontario, but I have no idea about good schools there... I don't want to attend a huge university like Toronto, but I don't want too small of one, either. Help!

It seems that McMaster, Laurier or Windsor seem to be your best bets. All are great schools with available programs in politics and history. As well, they arent too big, but provide a large enough atmosphere that you can succeed (I believe Mac is the biggest, with 20,000 undergrads).

My suggestion to you is to check out a bunch of schools, at least via Google. Taking the opinions of CCers should be with a grain of salt, because either the users are American and dont know, or Canadian and only spitting out names based on the most prestigious schools they may have heard of, regardless of if they are the best possible choice for you (for reference, I found those matches from CC’s super match thingy)

For international politics I would imagine UOttawa and Carleton would have good programs, given that they’re right in Ottawa. Maybe look into Queens too?

How is Carleton University regarded?

Its not seen as one of the top schools in Canada for sure, but its not held in low regard… I guess it depends on the student and the program

Yeah, I’m thinking Carleton… and although prestige isn’t my most important factor, I’m just worried that it’s not seen as a good school.
