I'm only a junior in high school, but I visited Northwestern over the summer and fell in love. The campus is exactly what I want, and I love the Greek life and the setting. I know I can't apply to only one school so I've been doing research to find similar schools but I haven't turned up very much. I've looked at Washington Uni in St. Louis and I liked that too. I have a 5.2 weighted gpa and I take all the AP classes I can. I played volleyball freshman and sophomore year and I'm involved in a lot of extracurriculars. However, I haven't taken the SAT yet.

Many, many colleges have fraternities and sororities. Other than the Greek life and something about the setting (the lakefront? proximity to Chicago?), what is it you like about Northwestern?

What do you plan to major in? Is cost an issue? If you are not focusing exclusively on schools in the midwest, then check out the University of Southern California, Cornell, and the University of Pennsylvania. These are selective research universities with fairly high Greek participation. If you want to stay in the midwest, check out Notre Dame. ND does not host fraternities or sororities, but does have a lively sports scene (as well as a practice of housing students in the same dorms for 4 years, which may foster some of the community you’d expect from a frat/sorority).

You might want to try an online college matcher.

What kind of weighting does your school do that you can have over 5?

Lots of schools have nice campuses and Greek life. Can you be a bit more specific about what you like about Northwestern? Proximity to big city? Pre-professional emphasis? Specific departments?

Georgetown University, Vanderbilt University, Emory University, Duke University, and Boston College are some suggestions.

Northeastern

lol

Wait, what about Northeastern?

Aside from the name, they’re both medium-sized, selective, urban, private schools.

Boston College does not have greek life.

That’s pretty weak criteria for comparing two universities. Furthermore, it’s a bit deceptive to call them both ‘selective’ as Northwestern’s admit rate is half of what Northeastern’s is. NU’s incoming class is probably significantly stronger than NEU’s too. A school like UCLA probably has more in common with Northwestern than NEU does.
