Ah, Jonathan, you did decide to apply to St. Paul's.

Yes, I did. However, I am not going to get my hopes up about applying because my mom may change her mind. I am going to my dad's house on Saturday so maybe he could look at the viewbook and I could convince him. I know St. Paul's is the right place for me.

I am writing the first choice, a. It says, "Tell us about a significant experience , achievement, risk you have taken, or ethical dilemma you have faced and describe its impact on you."

I hope that your parents let you at least apply. I mean, you're obviously so interested in it . . . If you can get admitted, and the financial aid you need, then why not? Share with them how passionate you are about it, and they will probably see how great it could be for you.
"What piece of art or literature that is meaningful to you, and why?" That was easy for me; I wrote about Stand Before Your God: An American Schoolboy in England (it's an incredible book). What are you writing about?

I think I am going to write about my trip to Japan that I took last summer. I was one of the four students selected out of the 25 that applied. It was one of the best times of my life. I think I will write about the interesting people I met and places I saw.

sorry to butt into your conversation but I'm also chose that question prettyckitty. I'm not sure what piece I'm writing about yet, but are they truely looking for classics or anything with sophistication or just ANYTHING (art/lit/music) that holds meaning to me?

and to answer which schools I'm applying to:
Andover
Exeter
St. Paul's
Groton
Milton
Taft
I dont have a safety because I'm just going to give it all I've got.

That should be a very passionate piece Jonathan. I think that's an excellent choice. For a different school, I'm writing about my experiance at Oxford over the summer.

Msu, I think that the most important thing is that it is meaningful to you. An honest, passionate essay about a modern fiction piece or a specific portrait is likely to be more impressive and well received than an accurate but impersonal one on a Dickens novel (not to say that you can't be passionate about Dickens; just if you weren't). They already know about Dickens. They don't know about you.

im considering a song, but it's about how life is a competitive, meaningless race. Im sure they're aren't looking for a pessimist (although I'm not). I like it because it is a different perspective of life from another's eyes written eloquently and sung even more beautifully. If I write it in that point, will it lead them out of the " Oh, she doesn't even care about life! Why should she get accepted to this great school then? " impression?
