school marks

Hi, I was wondering if the colleges only look at the GPAs, and not really your school marks.

My school states that a 85-89% is an A, so that is technically a GPA of 4. But when you look at a mark like 85-89%, it looks bad. How do you think the colleges will look at this?

Depends on how your school sets up the transcript. Do they display letter grades, or percent grades? Colleges will look at whatever is given to them.

(Side note: if 85-89% is an A, what's 90%+?)

my school is sending them everything, which are the percent grades
but because a 85-89% is an A, will they be okay with such a mark?

a 90%+ is an A+, but that is no different from an A in terms of GPA

they'll probably see your ranking and how competitive your school is, since good and bad grades mean very little: there can be extremely challenging courses and other very easy ones, the grades will be considered differently.

Wow...and I thought my high school inflated GPAs haha. In all seriousness, though, like adam ^ said, they'll probably take a closer look at your class rank to figure out how the apparent grade inflation system actually plays out at your school...if your rank is high enough it'll still look pretty good.

our school doesn't rank...
but as adamonkey2 says, there are courses at my school which are very very hard and there are also courses at my school which are very easy
so, i don't know how they'll assess that
