My school has had an ap stats course since I have been there. I am currently signed up for it for my senior year. However, I was talking to a classmate in my chemistry class and she said she went to sign up for it but she was told they wouldn't be offering it.

Due to time I haven't gotten in touch with my counselor yet but I was wondering what I should do if this proves true. Should I just sign up for an open elective or try to find another class? I will still have a math class because I signed up for two in case that was a concern Help is appreciated :)

Currently signed up for:
AP Lit
Ap Gov
AP Stats (class in question)
Forensic Science
Business and Marketing
Pre Calculus
Women's choir.

Can you take APES?

No. My school doesn’t offer it.

What other classes does your school offer?

Try an AP Science class. Colleges like to see either that or another AP Math [obviously AP Stats won’t do.]

Unless you’re going into a science/math related field, I wouldn’t stress. Lit and gov are good classes that shouldn’t necessarily be too easy. I only took ap gov and psych this year and was 7/9 for college acceptances. I also did not take math (precalc junior year) and only took regular physics (which was my third science class in high school). Do what you want, you’ll be fine! If you really want stats, ask about independent study.

^Correlation vs. Causation, but yes, take AP’s in the field you want to do. Also, I agree that doing an Independent Study @School in AP Stats would be very cool.

I will look into an independent study.

As far as other classes. My school only offers a few Ap Sciences (biology, chemistry, and physics) and the other ap math it offers is Calc AB. Other than that we have a bunch of electives ranging from Business classes to Athletic Training to history of the bible. Just to give you a condensed idea.

*I have taken the ap for my field (psychology)

I’d say take a business class. As a senior, you will soon enter the ‘real world’ and the business information would help you for real life stuff like taxes and things…

So maybe something like Accounting?

Yeah, or just Financial Planning. Any business class will do, especially since it will cover some more in-depth or unique stats.

Yeah, take a business class if there’s not really another class you can take. If you have free space for anything, it’s a lot less stressful. :)

^Speaking of stress, why not a free period? It is senior year, and like I said, colleges don’t care as much about it.

I will look into the business class. I’m sure it will compliment marketing really well. I’m also considering athletic training. Just because I’m going into psychology and learning about sports would be very beneficial…maybe?

I can’t exactly have a free period per say. But I could be a Teachers Assistant. There’s just 2 problems with that.
- I don’t like any teachers that much.
- I get bored so easy and a lot of TA’s at my school don’t do much.

Great suggestion though.
