School Newspaper

I am a writer for my school newspaper. I have to write an article, which is due tomorrow!

Problem is, Im stuck with a major writer's block. Any ideas for article topics?

Any Help would be greatlly appreciated

Claudius

well if cliques are a big problem at your school, DO CLIQUES! Thoughts on cliques and stuff

Or do a survey on who has more drama, girls or boys. Ask people what they think and why, and get some insight from a few psychologists. SHould be interesting.

IN RETURN, can you answer a question for me?
What are my chances of being accepted to my high school newspaper:

EXPERIENCE
-I was on my middle school newspaper staff for 2 years
-In 8th grade (end of 2 years) I got a Journalism Award for Outstanding Achievement in Journalism at the 8th grade Awards night
-In elementary school, I submitted articles to my temple's newsletter

I'm going to submit a copy of an essay that I submitted to an essay contest that I won. (I dont think I should submit my articles from my middle school paper because my writing...stunk)

Let's say I write funny, insightful, wonderful short answers to the application questions...

only setback: i got a D in math this semester...and i've gotten a couple B's in lit..
CHANCES, Claudius?

claudius
write an editorial on being addicted to college confidential
i think an editorial is the only thing you could do right now
anything else would require investigation-which you don't seem to have time for
no offense anisha
but i dont see how claudius is going to get insight from psychologists in the next 24 hours

OH WHOOPS i didnt read the 24 hours part. wow, im dumb.

To the OP, write about something that has happened in your school that has had a major impact upon the student body. Any large event will do. If not, write about national or international news. I don't know how your school's newspaper works, but our school's is divided up into 4 sections, and your topic has to fit the section that you're writing for.

Anisha - it varies from school to school. If your school is known for its newspaper, chances are that it will be harder to get in. You should ask the people who are already in it for their stats.

Anisha, your "resume" is pretty impressive, I'd say..well for our school newspaper but as gxing stated, it depends on the school's newspaper.

Claudius, as for ideas for a story...what's going on in your school's hallways? What's the buzz? I wouldn't recommend doing a story on national or international news only because it's well, everywhere, and it gets old in a snap.

Does your school use turnitin.com, the plagiarism-catching website? Our school does, and pretty much all the english teachers use it. We wrote a recent article on how we actually began using it and just the whole impact of cheating that takes place in schools. I think it was a pretty good story.

What else...

one for now, but what section are you writing for--news, entertainment, opinion?
