School of Agriculture & Life Sciences

The School of Management is located within the School of Agriculture and Life Science. Doesn't make a whole lot of sense but it is. On the admission qualification form it states that for this school "SAT II's in a science and math are recommended". Anyone get into Management with Math SAT II and a subject other than a science - like US history?

i am not gonna lie, it is extremely weird, cornell was very stupid about this

it should have created a new school, called the Johnson School, and made it an official undergraduate business school, and in 10-15 years, it would hvae been another wharton

but....

Despite this, is works pretty well. They just might make AEM its own school, but we'll have to wait and see how things pan out in the coming years.

Which SAT Subject tests did you submit?

Thanks

It's in the Ag school because it originally took form as a business-oriented course of study for people specializing in (drumroll) AGRICULTURE (farmers). AEM wasn't born yesterday. It's been around in various incarnations ever since Cornell's beginning. When AEM began it was very much appropriate for it to be in the Ag school, since agriculture was the biggest business out there. That being said, I think AEM should be absorbed by Johnson. Then (with some jockeying and elbow grease) we can position ourselves as the Wharton alternative.

help help - which SAT Subject Tests did you submit? June is approaching and not sure if a science should be taken..

thanks

Some questions about applying to AEM:

(1) Do you specify the AEM program on the application or just ALS?

(2) Is there a way to list a second choice in case you are not accepted into AEM?

(3) Can anyone give me an idea on how competitive AEM admission is? (such as SAT range, GPA) Is is harder to get into AEM than ALS, or A&S for example?

Thanks.

Smiles- if they are recommending you take math and science- Don't you think you outta take the science?? Why give them a reason not to accept you. If you feel you'd do better in history, take all 3.

Take it from some one who learned the hard way. If you're out of state, CAS is the better route than CALS.

@WS17: For CALS, you specify two majors on the app. A first choice and a second choice. AEM would be one of those choices. AEM is one of the hardest majors to get into at CALS (and arguably in all of Cornell).

@gellino: what was your hard way? What happened to make you say that?

if ur otu of state, i would go thru A/S econ, it will afford the same opportunities, and i think AEM is required to take new yorkers before out of staters

bball87, I sincerely doubt that is true. So far as I know there are no more in-state student quotas at any of the statutory schools/colleges.
