did anyone else here get admitted to the school of art and architecture? i did, and I'm assuming it was on the strength of my portfolio since i got rejected from UCSD. my SAT's were 1800 but my GPA was high (around 3.85) unweighted.

i'm so stoked! just waiting on NYU but have pretty much made up my mind to attend UCLA.

Congrats! There’s probably a very minute # of people within the program, haha you’d be pretty lucky to happen upon another soul on this board. Hope you’ll attend and produce some stellar work.

My daughter was accepted to Design Media Arts in The School of Art and Architecture-- she’s awaiting NYU, Parson’s/Lang, was also accepted at Art Institute of Chicago, UCSB, and UCSC. She’s going to visit UCLA to try and make a decision-- the program looks phenomenal, and the tuition even better. What program were you accepted to?

I was also admitted to the college of art and architecture, and I know my portfolio definitely got me in. I got a 1930 on my SAT, with cr and w scores in the 700’s but a dismal math score. So I’m really happy. And my unweighted gpa was average, weighted was pretty high but not really for UCLA standards.
Are you going to the Orientation on April 17th?

i’m going to the ucla the week of the 4th for a tour and stuff, the reception on the 17th maybe. anyone here from northern cali? im in half moon bay!

Nearly half the school is norcal Just drove myself up from San Jose to the city with a couple of my UCLA crew the other day - stopped in Saratoga, Sunnyvale, etc.

twinmom, i was accepted as a fine arts major. my portfolio consisted mainly of figure drawing (human form) nudes, and still lifes/landscapes (oils)…i’ve been studying for the past few years under noah buchanan, he’s an AMAZING norcal artist teaching at the NY academy of art right now. he’s bummed i’m not going to nyu but i’m not ready to leave cali…maybe for graduate work? noahbuchananart.com

your instructor noah buchanan looks very well trained classically. If you’ve got your core traditional art skills down then you should be well set to explore you creative and artistic vision at ucla. Don’t expect too much training in technique or traditional skills at ucla though!

Does anyone know if there is a difference between being accepted into UCLA’s undergrad college of architecture and being accepted into the College of letters and science and then applying to architecture at the end of sophmore year? Do people accepted right into the college take upper division classes? Does anyone know the difference? I did some research and whether or not you are immediately accepted into the architecture school, they both only get a BS degree.
