Okay, I really need to get my act together in terms of what needs to be accomplished and when. Yet... I'm really confused. I'm wondering if I'm interpreting this right:

Apparently, the application needs to be completed by December 1, but my online portfolio is not due until January 23. However, in the supplement, it says for all students applying to the School of Art, the portfolio is to be submitted on or before January 15.

I'm utterly lost. I have no idea what my deadlines really are.

Turning in a portfolio early is easier said than done! My daughter has several good pieces, but is counting on the holiday break to finish some others so she can submit her best possible work. For the same reason, she won't be meeting RISD's EA deadline, which is December 15. Btw, congrats to your D who did have hers in by Dec 1 and got accepted!

From what I understand about CMU's School of Design deadlines, if D is having an on-campus portfolio review (which she is, on January 25), then she just needs to submit all of her other application materials by December 1st, and then submit the portfolio in person on January 25. I hope I have this right - please correct me if I'm wrong!

I'm not sure if the School of Art has a different deadline for online portfolio submission. I haven't seen that Jan 23 date you mentioned anywhere...

I have to admit, I am a professional designer, so I gave alot of input and advice on portfolio building during her high school years. We went through her sketch books and flagged the best drawings for her to scan and put together on pages, took photos of her set construction projects etc. The extra effort and talent needed to study the arts makes it one of the most under appreciated and toughest majors IMO. Best of luck!
