I do love studying, but only for science/math. I love orchestra concerts, and hope to be in Penn’s orchestra. When I hang out with friends, we usually don’t go out. I guess I’m kind of a reserved person.

How about you?

GPA: 4.0/4.0 uw
SAT I: (2280) 740 CR 790 M 750 W
SAT II: 710 USH 710 Math II

I didn’t do so hot on the SAT IIs Oh well.

im scared to go to penn now haha. i’m kinda the opposite. i do well in classes cuz i remember stuff the teacher says and thats enough to do somewhat well in classes, and then i’ll study a bit beforehand. i love math, and i love science too, but just because the classes are easier at my school, even the AP classes, i never get motivated to really study. however, im sure if im at penn, i’ll be motivated to study hard aha. and i do like to go out. im not the partying type, but movies or playing sports - yeah sure why not.

hastycentaur… youre in. i hate Critical Reading haha.

OH ANOTHER QUESTION: do you know if a lot of the tests in the bio major (biology clsas) are multiple choice or essay?

I hate critical reading too. It’s those stupid passages about people’s feelings that get me. Hopefully 2 good SAT II’s make up for a bad SAT I section! It’s not like I want to major in the humanities anyway.

I doubt an ivy league will use many MC tests. Haha

BIO CLASSES: According to a current bio major, it’s more analytical thinking than pure memorization like high school bio can be, but it’s not too bad. It’s a lot of logical reasoning to get to the answers, like with math and the other sciences.
No idea on test formats - probably depends highly on professors.

Applied ED. Not feeling so hot about acceptance now. These next few days are going to be hell.

I listed my superscore (2260), but my one sitting is a 2250 so it’s not a huge jump.

How important is each thing to Penn? I remember at the info session the admission officer said that GPA and rigor of courses is most important, followed by standardized testing, essays, and extracurriculars.

My interviewer, who is a current Penn professor, said that the interviews don’t really count for anything unless there’s a cause for concern, which is rare.

there was a time when I thought I might be able to get in, but CC has recently done away with that thought haha. The acceptance rates in decision threads here is up to 70% sometimes, but I’m sure that’s just because lots of deferred/rejected are too upset to post… if that figure isn’t the actual one, though, I don’t see why I’d even check my status on friday

I think it may be partly that the deferred/rejected kids do not want to post, but I also think it has to do with the fact that the kids that are on CC are the ones with the awesome stats. If you don’t think you can compare to the kids that are always posting stats, you’re not the only one. There are always going to be those amazing applicants out there, but us other kids just have to keep our heads high and remember that we are above almost everyone else in the country!

@frenchwarrior I don’t think you have that much to worry about. Judging from your stats, it seems you have just as good a chance as anyone else. I’m sure you have stellar ecs, essays, and recs as well. I think it’s best to think positively in times like these. Worst that can happen is you’ll end up somewhere else.

Yeah, at least you guys don’t have a sucky 92+/100 :/

I would absolutely HATE to have a gpa based on percentage…
90 = 4.0 / 100 = 4.0
either way it’s the same, which is much less stressful. Otherwise I would freak out over every assignment and strive for 100% on everything, which would inevitably lead to my death. Lol

So lucky. :(
