I was admitted into to school of arts & sciences for Fall 2015 but I realized I really need to be in the bussiness school. How difficult is it tot ry and transfer into it for my freshman year? Will I need to wait till my So[hmore year to transfer?
If you want to enter the business school, you’ll have to take the required prerequisite courses that can be found here:
http://kelley.iu.edu/Ugrad/Admissions/CurrentIU/page39067.html
You need to earn a B or higher in each individual class (prerequisite and non prerequisite) for guaranteed admission. (B- does not satisfy this) If you get anything lower than a B, then your application goes in the “maybe” pile and it’s up to the admission committee to decide. Some of the classes that are required for admission to Kelley have a C+ to B- average so be warned.
It’s possible for someone with a 3.2 GPA and all B’s or higher to get into Kelley and someone with a 3.4 GPA and 2 grades less than a B to be denied.
If you meet the Kelley Automatic DA criteria I believe you may be able to still enter as a Direct Admit.
“If you did not mark one of our Kelley undergraduate business majors on your IU Bloomington application, you may make changes to your submitted application by visiting Step 2 on the IU Office of Admissions website. This change may take 7 – 10 business days to process.”

If you meet the requirements email diradmit@indiana.edu to ask if it’s too late to switch. If you email the IU Office of Admissions you’re liable to get someone who doesn’t know what they’re talking about. This is actually a good lesson for anyone entering IU as a standard admit. IU is huge university and don’t assume that anyone (advisers, counselors) who don’t work in Kelley have any idea what’s going on inside Kelley.
