School of Hospitality Admin

What can any current (or recent grads) tell me about Hospitality Admin? I hear it’s a small school. Are the students isolated from the rest of the student body, or do you get to meet people outside the school? Realistically, can you double major or minor in an entirely different field? Is it easy to get hospitality internships?
thanks.

Can only answer part. It's a small school with a new facility - the lobby is like a hotel lobby. You should check the SHA website and look at their bulletin for the real details. BU believes in a liberal education so you'd have a bunch of distribution requirements in the rest of BU. SHA people aren't isolated for living.

One of my s's former roomates was in that school. I don't think its isolated at all. Many of that programs students do local work/ internships in the biz and many work at the Hotel Commonwealth right on campus so if you visit stop in there and talk to students working the front desk.

As a student at BU I kind of feel that SHA gets hidden beneath the shadows of the other schools that make up BU. As others said, it is a very small program. I wouldn't say, though, that you're isolated from the student body...of course there are plenty of chances to meet people outside classes, (ie: in your residence hall) and I'm sure SHA has its own liberal arts core requirements that you need to take in CAS. So, no, you aren't isolated from the rest of the student body.

Also, there are many hotels in the area, such as Hotel Commonwealth and the Hyatt in Cambridge. So finding an internship or having general questions answered about hospitality administration shouldn't be a problem!
