Anyone (Alexandre?) know more about the UMich school of Kinesiology? I applied to LSA, but I would like to know more about the school, and if I can take classes there if I'm not enrolled.

The School of Kinesiology is the school a large number of the scholarship athletes are enrolled in.

Kines is a small school--the students there seem to really like it because it feels like a personal place. It's got quite interesting majors available. It does enroll a number of scholarship athletes. I don't know what LSA's policy is about how many credits you can take in another school, or if Kines has classes so popular with its own students they are closed to outsiders.

i applied to kinesiology and was accepted. immediately after i was accepted i got a phone call from the dean of the school about a get together in my area for kinesiology alumns to watch the mich v. ohio state game. there were lots of people there- all with excellent things to say about kines. the counselors and deans were there and knew all of the students and their families too. it seems like a very homey school-- i like that a lot- making a huge school a little more manageable.

i went out to visit and made an appointment with one of hte kines counselors who showed me around the school. everthing looks really interesting. you are required to do prerequs in all the kines fields before you have to really decide. there is a whole lot of research going on which was really interesting-- they let me participate in one of their experiments. also, students were stopping in to say hi to the counselor, ask about a class, problems with roommates.. etc. everyone was so accessable. when i got there everyone remembered me from the alumni event i had attended earlier.

also, i got a phone call today from a present kines student- to say congrats and be available to me for questions, concerns, etc.

so, i hope this gives you an idea about the kinesiology program at michigan. i am extremely impressed with it thus far.

oh, and also-- i know you can take classes there if you in another college. the counselors told me that many people switched to kines from the larger colleges like lsa because they loved the classes and just the general feeling of the environment.
