School of Kinesiology

Ok so i have been admitted to the Michigan school of Kinesiology and I have a few questions. I know Michigan is a great school but the school of Kinesiology is extremely small so...how does it compare to the rest of their classes/schools, is it up to par? Is it harder or easier to get into the school of Kines then the others? Any information is greatly appreciated!

sorry cav, I really didn't want to hijack your post, but I was also wondering if anyone could comment on how much harder/easier it is to get into this school, and what someone actually learns in movement science. Is it good for someone who wants to go into medicine?

np california, i really hope its a good program as so many others are at michigan so im guessing it is... just out of curiousity cali, were u recently admitted to the school of kines at mich?

lol no. I'm still a junior. But are you a transfer from UVa because its the virginia cavaliers, and so that connection just clicked in my head. If you are, then why would you want to transfer out of UVa? Thats one of my dream schools, so I would never do that if I were in your seat

Kines is very competitive - cav, you're lucky to be in! Last year, kines was one of the most competitive schools to be admitted to. Classes in Kines aren't easier or harder than any other classes at UM (that all depends on the prof), but you do have much smaller classes.

I definitely like the idea of smaller classes OEN that sounds pretty cool, may i ask are you a student of kines at mich and do you know this from experience and how you came by this information?

A family member of mine was a student in kines a few years ago. I have an in with the admissions office, so I have access to admit stats.

OEN429, would you happen to know how competitive it is to transfer from another university into the school of kinesiology at UMich? I was waitlisted last year and am giving it another shot...

qnyegrl, where do you go to school know if you wouldnt mind sharing? also why do you want to go to umich and do you know anything in particular about thier school of kines?

I am matriculating at Northeastern University. I've been wanting to go to UMich since high school mainly because of it's sports management program (i'm applying transfer to a bunch of schools with that major). I know that Kinesiology might be among the toughest of undegraduate schools to get accepted to in UMich. I really like the idea of the sports management major because it is highly interdisciplinary. One can use it to enter law or business, even something like sports psychology. I recall seeing on the website for it that graduates have done things ranging from going to law school to becoming astronauts. You can find out a lot here: http://www.kines.umich.edu/prospective/ugrad/
