I'm currently a sophomore student at Mount Holyoke College, a music major. My question is this: I am very good at music, especially singing.(and I do audition well) If my GPA is currently 3.0, how high would I have to raise it over the next two years to have a good chance of getting into the YSM for grad school, or does GPA matter that much with the school of music? Is there anything else I should keep in mind? Will a good audition, glowing letters of recommendation and a good resume offset the GPA? I do realize that this is Yale we're talking about.

Know that Yale's Music program is one of the most competitive programs extant. That being said, you should probably investigate their materials as most CC denizens probably aren't versed in its intricacies. Best of luck to you

I assume that you are referring to Yales grad program. You will be auditioning against some of the BEST singers in the country, so you have to be more than good, your audition needs to be extraordinarily polished, your language skills need to be sterling, your technique absolutely tight. In short it is possibly the toughest admit in the country.(at least right up there with Curtis) Give yourself the opportunity to compete on a national platform,so you at least know where your voice sits in comparison to the best. Also try cross posting this in the music forum
