School of Nursing Admissions

Did anyone hear from SON for either acceptance or denial?

I haven’t yet… I applied as a transfer, though, so I think I should be hearing before freshman applicants.

I am also waiting for a decision from DSON as a Traditional nursing student. I have been following the threads on allnurses.com and one individual (posted 2/25/11) per the admission’s office all spots have been filled. They have sent out an email to advise accepted students to pay deposits so they know how many actual spots they have left. Does anyone know how many students they allow into the DSON? Binghamton is my top choice but it doesn’t sound like I may stand a chance at this point.

Oh no :frowning: I hope that only freshman spots are filled and not the 2-year transfer program… I doubt it though because the freshman programs first two years are gen. eds. anyway :(

Kaitlyngrl have you heard anything?

I just got denied today by an email sent to me
but my stats were really low, so that was reasonablee

sat: 1780
gpa: 2.9

hope this helps and goodluck!

No, I haven’t heard anything… I called the other day to ask if they had made a decision on my app yet (didn’t ask what decision, just if they had made one) and they told me they couldn’t give me that information. I asked because I want to send extra materials, like a letter of interest or midterm grades, to help my chances. They said if I sent extra materials, theres a good chance they probably wouldn’t even look at them. I think I might send them anyway, because there is the possibility they will view them and include them in my file.

I’m starting to get really nervous because a friend of mine applied to Binghamton as a transfer from another SUNY school… He had a 3.7 GPA and was rejected. I only have a 3.5… He also said they notified him really late of their decision even though he applied very early.

NSHPFULL, did you hear anything yet?

Hi Kaitlyngrl……I got my rejection email today. Oh well everything happens for a reason. I guess my decision is now down to UB and Le Moyne College. I wish the best of luck to you. Update the thread and let me know if you get good news……I have my fingers crossed for you.

Oh gosh, I’m sorry!! I’m just waiting for mine to come along… I check my email so many times a day. I’ll let you know when I find out what happens with me and Binghamton! If you don’t mind me asking, what were your stats?

Nobody is making me feel better… I’ve heard a wide range of feedback from people from “I think you have a good shot” to “What makes you think you’ll get into Binghamton? You’re extremely lucky if you get in there”

I’ve been at a CC for 3 years (switched to nursing after a year and a half) and I completed all the pre-reqs required for the transfer program. My GPA is a 3.45 but I don’t know how good my essay was… I’m starting to second guess what I wrote. :/

Kaitlyngirl,

My GPA for 9th-12th grade is a 96.9—SAT 1350—ACT 31.

I think you have a great shot getting in as a transfer student. Do you know how many students they accept as transfers to the DSON? I really may explore that route after a year or two. Have you applied to any other schools besides Binghamton? Have you heard anything good or bad about Buffalo and Le Moyne College?

I will keep checking back to see how you made out………I really hope you the best!

I am surprised that you didn’t get in with those stats… Now I’m a little more nervous! lol But I don’t have a clue what their transfer acceptance rate is… Just checked the mail though and no big green envelopes :/

I was accepted to Hartwick College and Mount Saint Mary College… I was rejected from SUNY Farmingdale (which really surprised me honestly…) and I have yet to hear from Quinnipiac University, SUNY Plattsburgh, and Binghamton. My top two are Plattsburgh and Binghamton, so I’m hoping I get in to one or both.

I wanted to apply to Buffalo, but it said they weren’t accepting transfer applications for nursing when I tried to apply. I’ve heard really good things about Buffalo and their nursing program though, and I haven’t really looked into Le Moyne.

Thanks so much though! I’ll be sure to keep you updated on what happens!

My D applied to DSON EA, was deferred and today was accepted to College of Arts and Science. I was told that last year only 25 freshman were accepted into DSON. I’ve put out an email to admissions, but as its the weekend I guess I wont hear til next week.

i literally applied last week and all of my supplemental forms are on the way and should get to BU by april 1st. do you think its too late for them to even still look at my application? i’m applying at a sophomore transfer from a top 10 nursing school with a 3.5 GPA and most of their first and second year courses already completed.

You are at a disadvantage because you applied so late and they operate on rolling admissions. Most of us should have decisions by April 1st, while yours in only just getting there. Also, I think for transfers they look to see that you have all pre-req courses completed… not sure how this will affect you though. When I called, they told me it would help my chances if I told them I was taking micro this summer (because its the only prereq I don’t have done)

do you know how many transfers they accept? my entire application will be complete by april 1st

I don’t have a clue, this is something I’d like to know too though, so if anyone else knows please share!!

I’m sorry but a transfer application this late in the game I highly doubt will be considered. Try for the spring in my opinion.
