School of Theater!!

Okay so the USC School of Theater is definitely my first choice school to go to, and i'm going for a BFA in Acting. Does anyone know how competitive this is to get into?

And do they care that much about SATs and GPA considering this is theater?

My SAT is NOT GOOD in USC's standards (1970/2400 or 1340/1600) and my GPA is UNSPEAKABLY HORRID (3.24/4.0 unweighted :-O) and if I weren't applying for THEATER I wouldn't be asking this because I know I wouldn't get accepted for other majors.

I think my acting ability is pretty decent because for the North Texas Drama Auditions, 27 schools called me back including the Cincinnati Conservatory of Music - Drama (very good theater program) which offered me admission and scholarships.

In layman's terms, Talent-wise I think I might have a good chance, but would they not consider me regardless of how I audition because of my GPA and SAT??

Thanks in advance!

for BFA i believe that it's based on both gpa/sat and audition...but the audition can make a big difference. if you are extremely talented and they really want you, they will do what they have to do to get you, despite a lower gpa. also, your essays are important as well. my film acting teacher is a part of the faculty at the usc theatre school and he told me to make sure my essays are good...this same teacher will also be writing a letter of rec for the usc theatre school (i'm applying bfa as well, with ba theatre as my 2nd choice major).

i'm kinda have a dilema too.. i have pretty much good/average USC stats: 1950 SAT suberscore, 3.82 unweighted gpa, 10 ap classes completed by graduation, A LOT of leadership and community service and awards (president of 2 clubs), good essays....BUT i'm not sure how strong my audition will be. i do not know how i will compare to people across the country you know? i hope with my stats along with a good audition will get me in to the bfa program.

make sure your essays are good and really just wow the audition panel to make them want you! that's all you can do at this point.

good luck with everything!

also i forgot to add....only 30 out of approx. 600 applicants get into the bfa theatre program

thanks a lot! maybe I'll see you at auditions!

good luck to you too!
