School Pride

they musta msucked pretty bad if i missed that fact.

going to those school doesn't necessarily equate to a better wealth afterward. most of their alumnis are rich, but they are rich in first place.

My perfectionist nature has kicked in...

Alumnis is terribly incorrect. Alumni is already plural, because it's Latin.

The singular form of alumni is alumnus if you're male, alumnae if you're female. Some just go with "alum" and forgo the gender specific forms. However, the word "alumni" should never have a plural 's' attached to it. Ever. It's like saying "cactis" or "octopis."

They got beat in the first round. However, they made it to the tournament, and that says something for a program that has been rebuilding itself after inept leadership over the course of a decade or so.

allena, don't let anyone make you feel bad. Get whatever you want! I'll be damned if I don't get some things that say Berkeley on them!

And, i'm going to get my mom a Berkeley license plate for her beat up old Toyota, too! LOL!! I plan to sell my 02' Lancer and take public tranport! (anyone wanna buy it, it'll come with a free bumper sticker of your choice. hahah!)

Upenn........woot Woot

Yeah UCLAri is right they got knocked out by Texas Tech a really close game that gave us glimpses of what's to come with our talented freshmen class led by our floor general Jordan Farmar. While the Cats highlight was Dick Vitale and CBS sports debating whether Kentucky or Arizona had the biggest choke. I think they were up on Illinois by 7 points with seconds left and ended up losing that game in OT. Plus their top players: Stoudamire and Frye are bolting for the nba while we'll have farmar, shipp, afflalo, bozeman, and mata for years to come.

well if the UCLA starting 5 is as good as you say they are, whos to say they wont bolt after next year?

but the choke job was gut wrenching...then again atleast it wasn't a first round exit.

That's one of the concerns that some have about UCLA's starting lineup. I don't think so, because they're still raw talent, and they all seem to understand that they need to grow.

Although all were mcdonald's all-americans they have all stated that they would like the opportunity to be coached by ben howland for four years and relish the opportunity to get UCLA back to its glory days. This Jordan Farmar guy is the real deal he was highly recruited by duke, unc, florida, you name it and he almost left too because he really disliked UCLA's old coach Steve Lavin but when he got fired he reconsidered and the rest is history he fell on UCLA's lap. You can might as well hand us over the PAC-10 trophy now.

Well, this post is about school pride, right, and doesn't particularily pertain to Bruin pride.

Dukies have a lot of school spirit-- especially for basketball.

And I have to say it: the Trojans have INCREDIBLE school spirit. Crimson and gold gear all year round. :) Fight on.

for bball, don't forget about Afflalo and Shipp, those guys are gonna be crazy

and also, UCLA will be very good in football this year, and even better next year. I'm sure you've all heard about the top ranked QB recruit in the nation that is going to UCLA.

I really respect Duke. I may not always like them, but I sure as hell respect them.

Now the Trojans...;)

"Now the Trojans..."

Aw, come on. You know, way deep down, like any Bruin, you really LOVE us....:P

As far as I can throw you, dear Trojan. As far as I can throw you.

:D

Woah Woah, no need for a Bruin Trojan war on here.

I mean we share a lot of good things in common and should focus on those.

For example, whats one important thing that both a UCLA and USC student have in common?

The simple fact that they both got into USC. :)

lol exactly dusty.

Go Hoos....:)

4 stickers, 2 shirts, a pair of basketball shorts, and 3 hats speak for themselves.

Smirks If you want to cling to old stereotypes for a desperate sense of pride, go ahead. But as you can see what sort of schools students give up to be called Trojans...

http://www.livejournal.com/community/usc/420758.html

Uh huh :P

"The simple fact that they both got into USC."

Uh... For those who choose USC instead... aren't one of the reasons because of that unofficial Bruins motto, so typical of some public school: "Enjoy being a sophomore... it's the best three years of your life"?

:)

No no, it's "enjoy being a senior, the best three years of your life." At least for me. I did graduate in four though, so it can be done.

It's true that the majority of people that got into UCLA also got into USC, not the other way around. That doesn't necessarily mean that everyone chooses UCLA over USC though.
