school question

When I apply to MIT (spring 09) I would have just finished my AA degree at the community college (Dec-08-08). I would have also graduated early from high school (August 07). Does MIT want SAT scores from me? I don't mind having to do the SAT and the two subject tests. I'm just a bit confused on where I stand.

Thanks.

(If anyone knows the answer to my question in relation to Caltech admission that would be appreciated also.)

Are you applying to MIT as a transfer student? If so, this is the info that is posted on their website for transfer applicantions:

What are the testing requirements?
Results of the following tests are required of candidates at all levels, whatever their curricular history. All candidates must complete all required tests by the end of January for fall entrance, and by early November for spring entrance.

Native English Speakers
(For those who have been using English at home for more than five years.)

You must take the new SAT I with the writing component and two SAT II subject tests, one in math (Level 1 or Level 2) and one in science (Physics, Chemistry, or Biology E/M). If you already took the Writing SAT II subject test (no longer offered), you may substitute that test for the SAT I requirement.

Non-native English Speakers
(For students whose native language is not English, who have been using English for less than five years or who do not speak English at home.)

You have two options: you may take the tests required of native English speakers, or you may take the TOEFL (Test of English as a Foreign Language) and two SAT II subject tests, one in math (Level 1 or Level 2) and one in science (Physics, Chemistry, or Biology E/M).

Are you able to apply as a regular freshman with an AA degree?

I don't know. I guess I should go ahead and contact someone at MIT. I would like to apply as a freshman.

From the Transfer Admissions webpage at the MIT site:
[quote]
Who is eligible to transfer to MIT?
If you have completed two or more terms at an accredited college, university, technical institute, military academy or community college, you may apply for transfer admission to MIT.

And from Matt's blog last October:
[quote]
If you are a full-time university student when you apply to MIT, you must apply as a transfer student, unless you are classified as a "non-degree" or "non-enrolled" student.

MIT does not accept applications for freshman admissions from students who already have a degree. I believe you would need to apply as a transfer student.

Alright then. Thank you.
