School rank

How much does school rank really matter? For example, my school is #103 but the school my friend goes to is ranked #65 (both national rankings). Assuming we are nearly same in most aspects, will he have an advantage over me? He is in the IB program, by the way. I'm not. Thanks!

I do not think that school rank matters that much. Colleges ask for a school profile and compare you to the other students at your school. Ask yourself, have you made the most out of each opportunity (that is applicable to you) that your school offers? YOUR rank matters but your school’s rank is not weighed heavily into the admissions process.

School ranks don’t matter much. It matters if the HS is a feeder school to some prestigious colleges.
