Hey so I was wondering if top 10 students were recognized in the graduation ceremony or if it is just the valedictorian and salutatorian. My best friend was ranked #4 in her class and she wanted to know if she would get recognized from it.

I think it depends on your school?

My school has the Top 20 wear a special thing (I forgot the name of it, you put it over your robe and it’s shiny) and they get to walk first and have their names and GPAs announced first and sit in a special section on the stage.

Depends on the school

It depends entirely on your school - at my school, the Valedictorian, Salutatorian, Orator (#3), and Class President (any rank) are recognized at graduation and students within the top 10 are recognized in the local newspaper. There’s no set rule or standard for all high schools.

At our school, we have a valedictorian, and then we have distinguished scholars with a >4.0 weighted GPA who get to wear white robes compared to the black worn by regular students.

My school announces the top 10.

my school doesn’t rank, so the only people who are recognized are those in SGA and then they put special recognition in the program for those going into the military. We also have a thing where grad band/orch/choir plays a chord whenever a music student walks on stage.

My school gives cords to summa cum laude (4.0+ GPA), magna cum laude (3.7-3.99), and cum laude (3.5-3.69) graduates and asks them to stand at some point during the ceremony. The valedictorian / salutatorian are not recognized.
