i was enrolled in an online school and due to financial reasons, i had to withdraw. i submitted all of the withdraw paperwork, and got confirmation of my withdraw from my student advisor.

i'd like to note that i stayed until the end of the financial aid year so i wouldn't have to deal with returning grants/loans. i also owed a little bit of money which was paid off. i also completed my loan exit counseling.

about a month after i officially stopped taking classes at that school, i enroll into my local community college (as a transfer). classes started and i thought everything was fine until my cc told me that my previous college was receiving my financial aid. i called the school and after a long fight, they agree that they made a mistake and said they would return all grant & loan money.

but now, after i tried to get my official transcripts to attend a 4 year college, i find out that they didn't send all the money back. they kept about $500 of the money, and they told me i have to appeal this through them - which takes about 45 business days, and yes, i have already started the appeal process.

i don't think this is right or fair at all. i have proof that i was officially withdrawn and completed all of my exit paperwork, so i do not understand why they accepted federal grants and loans for me when i wasn't a student! i live in pennsylvania and the school is in florida, is there anything i can do (besides go through their appeal process)?

thanks in advance for you help.
