school recommendations

Hi everyone,
I just created an account and this looks like the best place to ask for school recommendations. I am heading into my senior year and do not have the time to research every school on my own. Any recommendations would be helpful.

Criteria:
Interested in business/management, real estate, economics, international business/relations, banking/finance,

Strong test scores (SAT=2040, ACT=34), 4.05 weighted, 3.95 unwiegthed, varsity sports, editor-in-chief of student newspaper, CSF and NHS involvement

Thanks.

UPenn- Wharton (or economics in their school of arts/sciences)
NYU Stern
U Mich
U Wisconsin- Madison
U Chicago (economics)
Northwestern

What is your home state? Do you need financial aid?

my home state is CA but i have no strong desire to stay here, actually I would rather end up on the east coast in/near a major city. I will need financial aid definitely, however I will not qualify for much - family income near 140,000 yearly for 6 people

Madison has a good business program, but it is by no means a top tiered business school.

UCB has an amazing business program (top five by most rankings I believe) and you would save a lot of money by going there.

Other good schools:

Penn
MIT
Michigan
Virginia
Cornell
NYU

sounds good - i am mainly concerned with finding match/safety schools

Look at some in the midwest like Ohio State and Indiana Bloomington.

Except you can’t apply to the biz program as a freshman, you have to apply as a Berkeley sophomore or something to that effect, and even then they only take less than 50% of applicants (last I checked).

If you really want to do finance you should go some of the top schools on the east coast. Recruiters for top finance firms usually go there, I blieve.

With your stats you would get a 9k/year scholarship at Indiana and direct admission to the business school, so IU would be a safety (it has a good business program as well).

You definitely should try to apply to Indiana University- Bloomington as a safety school. You will automatically get 9k/year as maxellis said; you will also be eligible for more scholarships because of your strong application. IU’s business school is really strong, so if you really intend to explore those majors, Kelley would be a good choice.

You should send in just your ACT score, because your SAT is not as strong as your ACT. I believe a 34 ACT is roughly equivalent to a 2260 SAT which would make you very competitive for top schools.

Match + Good Business School + In/Near City + Good Merit Aid + Geographically Diverse Student Body = Tulane.
