I am an eighth grader applying for top schools such as Phillips Exeter and Phillips Academy. Today I took a look at Exeter's application process and apparently my principal or guidance counselor has to write about me. The reason I am worried is that my principal nor my counselors really know me. Does this part of the application have to be written by my principal or counselor? Or is a teacher allowed to fill this part out. I would appreciate any responses. Thank You.

It has to be filled out by a guidance counselor or principal. Don’t worry, I don’t think too many students have an amazing relationship with them. You can always give them a sheet with your extra-curriculars, reasons why you want to go to a boarding school, what you hope to gain, etc… so they can write a better recommendation.

Perhaps you should arrange for a meeting with your counselor. Bring him/her up to date about yourself and what your plans are. They will be happy to help you and you will feel more reassured about what they know about you. Good luck.

thanks for your help!
this really helped me a lot!
