Hey there,
I’m applying to Cornell ED from Canada and our school is on trimesters. The requirements page lists:
The School Report - Your counselor or designated school official should submit this form (or your school’s own report form) and your official transcript on your behalf.
and
Midyear Report - Submit the Midyear Report as soon after the application deadline as possible.
Our first report cards come out mid-December and transcripts come out after graduation. How can I possibly meet Nov 1 deadline if the things don’t exist then. For us, is midyear report same as school report? None of these things appear on Common App. Will everything be clear when I submit and log on to Cornell website? Much clarification please!
There should also be a transcript with your grades up to this point. Your school has likely had applicants to American colleges before, so ask your counselor how they handle things.
Yea I understand a bit better now. So the school report is not a report card, its just some forms about your school which appear when you invite your counselor. He/she will also write a letter for you because its mandatory for cornell. Then the midyear report must be the first report card of the year, whether semester or trimester.
All that’s left is the transcript problem. Does it come with the school report? I think that’s what the website means in
The School Report - Your counselor should submit this form AND your official transcript on your behalf.
So it seems like counselor will fill in your grades for you along with school report (info) and letter
I guess this only works for regular decision as no school has any grades by Nov. 1
No. It is separate from the school report. Do you see where it says “your counselor should submit this form AND your official transcript”? They are two separate, distinct things which both must be submitted by your counselor. It is a record of your grades and classes up to this point.
A transcript isn’t a standard form. Your school is to provide a list of all courses you have taken In high school and your grades in those courses. Usually the transcript includes a grading scale so colleges can see what grades are possible. The “official” part is that it needs to come from your high school, not provided by you. My guess is that your GC knows what to do for this.
