Two of my top choice schools STILL need my school report from the school administrator. However, she STILL HASN'T SENT MY GRADES. I talked to her on Thursday about sending in my grades and she said "I sent your grades already I promise." However, I e-mailed one of the schools and they said that she hasn't completed the school report process.

I feel like throwing up I really HATE being late on an application. What if her actions cost me my acceptance? Having a late application DOES NOT look good. And I wasn't too confident about my application already. I hate bothering her already because I was so persistent on reminding her to send in my grades however she still hasn't sent them in even though I visited her office like everyday.

I already freak out when I'm late with a school assignment but can you imagine this?

Ask her as many times as you can remember. If you’re sick, it’s your job to go to the doctor. You need to keep contact with the administrator as well as the schools to make sure they understand your situation.

I commend a student who takes care of the application process on their own but, at this point, I would suggest your mother or father follow up with your current school to find out what is going on and to make sure it is taken care of.

This happened to us too when my D was applying.

She probably did send it and it was lost. Suggest you ask her nicely to send it again, and apologize for the extra work. If you can print out a screen shot of the page that shows it is missing, I would give that to her when you ask. Brownies help too.

Schools give extra time to receive supporting documents, because a LOT gets lost.

Getting it in before the end of January is a reasonable goal.

I suggest now giving her prepaid envelope addressed to the school with tracking number and signature of the recepient.

I think you’re supposed to submit it online for the schools I’m applying to.

I’ve done all of my application by myself. My mother never even visited the site for two of my schools. I had to copy and paste her short answers because 1. My mom’s first language isn’t English and 2. She doesn’t understand any of the websites.

Do you have an advisor/guidance counselor at school? Or a teacher you are close to who might help you out with the administration? I also think a polite entreaty combined with printed proof of what’s still missing should work. Brownies will too! good luck.

OK, is it a common application site like Gateway or SSAT?
I had the same problem with the transcripts for my child. I had to put them into one scan and scale it down on smallpdf.com . I e-mailed the secretary few times, asking if she needed help. I gave her specific instructions on how to use the site and to make sure to click the SUBMIT button. On Gateway they showed up as soon as she did it.
Can you ask your homeroom teacher or quidance counselor for help?

I gave her something for Christmas (some nice chocolates). :)

@gingerella
That is a good idea. Maybe I can ask for the transcript she printed out and scale it down myself; and then e-mail the new pdf to her. My Algebra 2 grade dropped from an 89 to an 88 this week so I want her to send the 89 grade. I know I’m making such a fuss over a smaller grade down but that 88 brought down my whole average. I had an overall 94 for the year and it changed to a 93 (my lowest grade for the school year).

And another question: Do you think the 89 matters? Do most kids who apply have 99/100s? I’m quite afraid my grades might affect my standards. There are kids in my grade at school who have much better grades than me which really brings down my self-esteem.

I would’n worry about the grades at this point. What’s done is done.
You can also offer to help her to send them to the schools.

@gingerella
On Monday should I offer to look at the website with her in her office?
And I know I can’t change anything, I just want to know if it will affect me. Does it matter if I take a high level math course?

How do you communicate with her? if it is on drop in basis, then go in and just ask, if she has a moment. Be polite, tell her, that sometimes those web-sites have glitches and, it does not show, that the transcripts were posted. Ask her, if she needs help and is she does, when is a good time to come.
Also, you can contact IT department at the school you are applying to and ask them what are the steps and the seizes for the documents.
In regards to your grades: the higher level math course does matter and the kids’ marks go up and down. I would not worry about it that much anyways.
When is your deadline?

Oh, man, I got so lucky with my awesome principal. Good luck, and I really hope she doesn’t hurt your chances.

@stargirl3
would that hurt my chances? It’s not even my fault. Oh god if she does I will cry. These schools are all I have left to look forward to for high school. If I don’t accepted into even one of my 2 choices I will be even more depressed I out so much time and energy into my applications.

@gingerella
The deadline was January 15 so it’s already late! Oh god what do I do what if it really does hurt my chances?

I usually drop in to see her but I’ll stay after school on Tuesday to talk to her. The annoying thing is I have to wait until Tuesday. I’m already stressed with so much other stuff. I can’t believe this is happening to me.

Call the AO’s at your schools and tell them what’s going on. Surely they will have some advice. This must happen a lot.

Relax. They won’t count your app late because of something out of your control. I promise.
Just explain that for whatever reason, it’s not showing, and politely ask her to resend it AND give it to you in a sealed envelope that you can then mail.

When my kids were applying, I always asked for paper copies in a sealed envelope. I then put everything in one big envelope and mailed it personally.

Again, I promise that you won’t be penalized. Just try to get it all done by the end of the month.

Don’t call me Shirley. ( Sorry, London. I couldn’t resist)

^^ Good advice to call, but try to remain calm. It’s going to be okay.

I feel bad for Lawrenceville’s admission office I called and e-mailed them about my endless concerns so many times. I want to send an e-mail apologizing for the late school report but I’m afraid they’ll get annoyed and this my chances lowering. (Lawrencevillle is my #1 choice)

Lawrenceville sent a mass email specifically telling applicants not to call about such things and not to worry. If they don’t have everything by 2/10, an AO will contact you.
