School Revisit and FA

My son was accepted to multiple schools with FA . One school, in particular, which has been among his top choice offered a very generous FA. The other schools are sending frequent reminders to schedule a revisit. Is a revisit even necessary to the other schools considering the generous FA offer he received from that one school?

No. Unless you are willing to give up the higher amount. It’s not fair to give your child a chance to fall in love with a school (that is the only purpose of a revisit) if he is not going to be able to go in the end. If everyone is happy leave it be.

I think it’s up to you. If the financial aid is the difference maker, I guess you don’t have to visit, but if you are willing to pay the difference I would. If the financial aid isn’t a big factor, I would do the revisit. We have a similar scenario and there is definitely a financial aid difference, but I told my child that please don’t think about the money difference. A little more tuition isn’t going to kill me if he feels the other school is a better fit.

I agree. Fortunately, my son appreciated the constant communication from AO, teachers and current students from the school before March 10. The FA award difference is substantially bigger and the school even offered to match if other schools were to offer a bigger award.

Congratulations. Sounds like you guys are in a great place with that school! He can feel good about his other acceptances but jump right into that one.
